Mission: Empowering girls to value their voices and strengths.

Vision: A community of confident girls empowered to make a difference in their world.

Girls Go Outside is a non-profit based in Bend, Oregon. We create adventures specifically for middle school aged girls. Program development is based on current research relating to girls in today’s society as well as more than 25 years of collective field experience with girls in adventure based programs.

Our summer programs range from 5-12 days and are run in partnership with Bend’s Parks and Recreation summer programming. Adventures include activities such as rock climbing, river rafting, backpacking, horseback riding, beach exploration and community service projects. These activities are paired with time for group and individual reflection as well as art projects to round out the entire experience. This pairing of taking on new challenges in a safe setting and reflection provides girls with a new set of tools they can bring home with them to help navigate the challenging world of today’s girl culture.

GGO programs are developed for the average middle school aged girl. Our programs are not wilderness therapy, but an opportunity for girls to learn about themselves. Challenging them to safely step outside their comfort zone allows them to develop a strong community built upon shared experiences and relationships with their peers.
